Tips to Keep Teeth Healthy Between Visits
We all know 2020 has definitely not gone as planned for many people. With many businesses shutting down, dental offices were not spared. As a result, many appointments have had to be rescheduled. If you find yourself going much longer in between dental visits than usual, check out these tips to make things a little easier for yourself and your hygienist!
Tips and Tricks:
- Floss. It’s really so simple! Each tooth has 5 surfaces, and by not flossing, you leave 2 surfaces essentially untouched, becoming a breeding ground for bacteria and cavities. We suggest scooping down one side of the tooth to make a “C” shape to make sure everything gets scraped off!
- Brush. We recommend at least twice daily for two minutes, using a soft-bristled brush and circular motions. Smaller toothbrushes can help clean teeth in the back of the mouth.
- Use a Fluoridated Toothpaste. Fluoride keeps enamel strong and lowers the risk of decay.
- Avoid sugary and acidic food and drinks. Too much sugar creates a sticky coating on the teeth that can lead to decay, and acidic food can eat away at the enamel. Fruit juice is a hidden horror for teeth- just look at the sugar content next time you’re in the store!
These are simple habits to get into, and can help all future dental visits! Fox Valley Dental hopes everyone has stayed safe and healthy and continues to do so. If there are any questions or concerns about current or future dental visits, please give our office a call at 920-725-1327.
