Crowns & Bridges FAQs
- What’s the difference between a dental crown and a bridge?
Crowns and bridges are both used to restore your smile.
A dental crown is a tooth-like cap that covers an existing tooth or gets placed on a dental implant to replace a missing tooth.
A dental bridge is made of one or more false teeth with a crown on either end. Those crowns are then secured onto the teeth on either side of the missing tooth/teeth gap. Bridges are also used with dental implants to replace multiple missing teeth.
Depending on your dental needs, we’ll recommend the right treatment for you. Both options look and feel like your natural teeth!
- How long do crowns and bridges last?
Crowns and bridges can last for at least 10 years with proper oral hygiene.
Taking care of your teeth by brushing at least twice a day for two minutes each time, as well as flossing at least once a day, can help take care of your teeth and restorations.
Don’t forget to visit your dentist for routine checkups and cleanings to ensure your restorations are healthy.
- How much does a crown or bridge cost?
The cost varies from patient to patient, depending on your smile needs.
A dental crown typically costs less than a bridge since crowns are usually used for one individual tooth.
